Philip Morris Increases Its Shipments in Ukraine by 14.7%
Philip Morris International (PMI), one of the major producers of cigarettes has increased shipments of tobacco products in Ukraine by over 14.7% in 2016, to about 22.014 billion pieces.
Based on a yearly report, the calculated overall cigarette market boosted by 2.9%, to 72.7 billion pieces, mostly pushed by a reduced level of dubious trade.
The company representative announced that in 4 quarter 2016 the predicted overall cigarette market dropped by about 6.4%, to 17 billion pieces, mainly powered by the effect of price boosts in 2016. PMI shipments in 4 quarter 2016 declined by 0.5%, to 4.8 billion cigarettes.
As for the PMI share of the Ukrainian market in 2016, it has shortened to 29.9% resulting from a decrease of the Marlboro brand’s share to 3.2% and the share of other cigarette brands to 13.6%. Bond Street share increased to 10.1% and Parliament to 3%.
Philip Morris International manufactures cigarettes at more than 50 factories and sells them in 160 countries all over the world.
The tobacco company has been running in Ukraine for more than 15 years. It produces cigarettes at a factory in Kharkiv region.
